STEM Facilitator (Part-time)
STEM Facilitators engage museum visitors with live STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) programming both at the museum and off-site at schools and various community organizations. Programming will range from hands-on STEM activities and experiments within the different galleries of the museum, to live stage science shows and demonstrations. STEM Facilitators routinely give orientations to school groups visiting the museum, participate in educational special events, and monitor / assist with resetting museum exhibits. Applicants must have good public speaking abilities, have good science content knowledge, and be comfortable working with live animals (reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates). Applicants must be friendly and out-going in personality, be able to pass a criminal background check, and have a good driving record.
Building / Exhibits Maintenance Assistant (Full-time)
Building / Exhibits Maintenance Assistants would help maintain all hands-on museum exhibits and displays, as well as multiple mechanical and building systems throughout the facility. Some experience with carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanic systems preferred. Experience with electronics repair a plus! Previous building maintenance experience preferred, but not required. Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check, be on their feet for extended periods of time, able to lift over 40lbs, and be friendly and out-going. Some weekend availability is required for this position.
Custodian / Meeting Room Attendant (Full-time)
Custodian / Meeting Room Attendants will be responsible for daily janitorial duties throughout the facility. Additionally, these staff set-up tables and chairs for, and clean up after meeting and banquet room rentals. Previous commercial custodial experience preferred, but not required. Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check, be on their feet for extended periods of time, able to lift over 40lbs, and be friendly and out-going. Some weekend availability is required for this position.
Lubbock Children’s Museum and Birthday Party Staffer (Part-time)
The Lubbock Children’s Museum is the pre-school children’s (ages 5 & under) discovery and play gallery with-in the Science Spectrum Museum. LCM staff greet, monitor and manage the number of visitors entering the LCM, as well as facilitate age appropriate craft, story-time and hands-on science activities with-in the gallery. Staff also regularly pick-up and return toys and other items to their designated locations, and are responsible for continuous and thorough cleaning of the gallery. Staff will also occasionally participate in additional museum-wide educational events, and offer assistance during science camps and workshops. Staff will also be trained and scheduled to coordinate children’s birthday party groups on the weekends. Applicants must be friendly and out-going in personality, and must be able to be on their feet for extended periods of time.
